1.No lubrication required
It relies on metal diaphragms to transmit torque and absorb deformation caused by misalignment. There is no relative movement, no friction and wear between different parts, so no need lubrication. Super suitable to the development direction of non oil process equipment.
The gear coupling is a rigid movable coupling. It relies on the relative sliding between the surfaces to compensate the misalignment of the two shafts.Therefore, its need be lubricate. Especially under high speed and centrifugal force,such as the oil separation, leakage, and selection of lubricants becomes very important .they usually choose bearing lubricants rather than gear lubricants ,the later is more better load carrying capacity.
Therefore, the lubrication problem of gear couplings running at high speed is particularly prominent.On the other hand, the wear caused by the relative sliding of the gear surface will cause a series of problems such as sludge and imbalance.Therefore, although gear couplings were once the first choice for high-speed and high-power applications, with the development of diaphragm couplings,the former have gradually been replaced.
